TamilNadu Cinema theatre strike has been called off by the theatre owners Association, and the theatres will start functioning from tomorrow (July 7). The President of the federation’s Mr.Abirami Ramanathan announced this information today, July 6.
The theatre owner stopped movie screenings from July 3, to protest against the Government had announced, in addition to the GST. Already the local tax set at 30 percent now the GST is the addition of 28 percent. So the theatre owners feared that they would run into heavy losses.
Meanwhile, leading stars such as Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan has requseted to TN Govt to reconsider about the taxation. Several meetings between TN Govt and Theatre Association, Tamil Film Producers Council had been held.
Now, Abirami Ramanathan, the president of the Tamil Nadu Cinema Theatre Owners’ Federation, has said that theatres across the state will reopen on Friday.
